Looking for something different for your next venture? Belchamps Scout Activity Centre offers fantastic camping set in beautiful Essex countryside, high quality indoor accommodation and a large range of activities for young people of all ages. Whether you are looking for a full residential experience or just a day visit, our instructors will ensure that your event is safe, excellent value for money and full of fun.
Belchamps Scout Activity Centre is owned by the Scout Association and established in 1936. All our staff have or have had some involvement in Scouting. Our priority is the participants. We have a small and friendly team of vounteer, work experience and full time paid staff who look after you from the moment you enquire to when you say goodbye. We are flexible and accommodating and we want every young person to go away having experienced a great adventure.
We also want to make it as easy and comfortable for the staff bringing them as possible. Our prices are realistic, we are a non-profit making organisation, and any surplus goes directly back into improving the facilities we offer. We have a maximum of three schools staying on residential at any one time with room for a further two or three, depending on numbers, on day visits. We can accommodate larger groups with exclusive use of our Tented Village.
We are very flexible. If your group is slow on a particular activity and we don’t get through the whole group in the allotted time, we’ll run over. If we still don’t get through the group you can be sure we’ll do our best to make sure those who miss out come back later so that no-one goes away disappointed.
We have full risk assessments on our site, buildings and all of our activities. Our activities are run to strict site operating procedures. We also have lesson plans for all our activities to ensure that every young person gains something from the experience.
There's 30 acres of safe grassland and woodland for your group to enjoy. With a single entrance into the site, which is monitored by CCTV, it’s safe and secure.
During free periods there is games equipment for you to borrow. In extreme wet weather we have a large sports hall where activities can be run. Many of our activities are under cover. All of our staff are CRB checked, hold national governing body activity qualifications where applicable and are first response first aid trained. They also undergo intensive internal training to provide you with the best possible experience.
Our catering services are very generous, offering a wide choice of meals each day. We will always attempt to find something for even the fussiest of eaters. We can cater to almost all dietary needs and have lots of experience in doing so.
Not sure if we come up to the standard of the bigger commercial operations? Then come for a visit and one of our Guest Services Team will show you around and answer your questions. Just give us a call on 01702 562 690 to arrange a visit.
