Reporting to - Centre manager
Salary – Voluntary – Food allowance and accommodation available
Hours –40 hours per week 5 days out of 7
Starting Any time from May 1st and for a minimum period of 2 months
Duties:
- Instruct activities and games
- Clean buildings and toilets
- Maintenance tasks
- Assist with campfires
- Put up and pack away tents
- Other basic tasks
Essential skills required
- Experience of working with children
- Must be over 16 years of age
Useful but not essential
- First Aid trained to at least 1st Response
- NRSR
- GNAS
- Scout Climbing permit
- Guide level climbing 1 permit
- Fencing Activity Leader Award
- Member of the Scout or Guide Association
Must be willing to undertake a CRB check via the Scout Association.

Activity Centre Assistant

Job Description
To Assist the Centre Manager in the front of house areas including retail, bookings and events.
Job Title
Activity Centre Assistant (admin)
Reporting to
Centre manager
Salary
£6 per hour - 1 year fixed contract starting August 2010
Hours
Up to 38 hours per week, to help cover Wednesday to Monday pm till 5pm weekdays and 8-45am till 5-15 pm weekends. 9am till 9pm Fridays.
This will be a job share or part time or full time role, and we will recruit enough people to cover the hours between them.
Duties:
- Reception and bookings
- Answer and respond to telephone enquiries
- Answer and respond to e-mail enquiries
- Server customers direct with booking enquires
- Develop the bookings procedure
- Liaise with schools to confirm bookings
- Manage the bookings procedure and chase deposits and payments
- Ensure site rules are followed
- Develop a site policies and procedures manual
- Assist the Centre Manager with the allocation of instructors to activities.
- Retail
- Serve customers in the uniform, sweets and souvenir and equipment shop
- Stock shelves
- Keep the shop in a clean and tidy condition including cleaning surfaces, windows, window sills, shelves and floors etc.
- Empty bins
- Clean and restock shelves, fridges and vending facilities
- Manage the Scout shop ordering system
- Keep webshop updated
- Site security
- Ensure site visitors are on business and sign in and out
- Ensure shop security including the locking of doors and windows
- Monitor security cameras
- Cash security
- Events
- Final preparation of flyers/tickets etc for events
- Send out mail shots
- Prepare any craft items required for events
- Manage event bookings
- PA
- Other basic admin tasks
- Any other general tasks as required by the Centre Manager, Facilities and Admin manager.
- Keep diaries and appointments
- Fundraising
- Research and apply for grants
- Plan and run small term time events to utilise halls
- Telephone suppliers for donation requests
- Sales and marketing
- Telephone customers with direct marketing questions
- Send out mail shots
- Cold sales telephone calls
- Activities
- Occasional instructing of activities such as team building, push ball, assault course etc.
Essential skills required
- Computer literate – Excellent Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook skills
- Excellent customer facing skills
- Excellent telephone manner
- Flexible
- Able to work under pressure
- Able to solve problems
- Communication skills both with customers and colleagues
- Good basic planning and time management
- Attention to detail
- Able to communicate with all ages and levels
- Understanding of charity organisations
- Must be able to cover occasional other shifts to cover sickness holidays etc.
Useful but not essential
- A member of the Scout or Girl Guide association
- Full Driving license
- First aid at work qualification
Must be willing to undertake a CRB check via the Scout Association.
